Archpriest Ghattas Hajal awarded the Senate 150th Anniversary Medal
On Tuesday, December 12th, Archpriest Ghattas Hajal was awarded the Canadian House of Senates 150th Anniversary Medal by Senator Anne Cools alongside 10 other recipients in a reception that took place at the Parliament Hill.
Fr. Ghattas was chosen for his 27 years of service in Canada; for his dedication and hard work and leadership in his Church and Community.
Here is what the official Website says about this award:
“Today, the Senate of Canada is celebrating the 150th anniversary of its first sitting by awarding commemorative medals, struck by the Royal Canadian Mint earlier this year. The Senate 150th Anniversary Medal commemorates the first time senators came to Ottawa to sit in Parliament, on November 6, 1867.
The medals are being awarded to Canadians or permanent residents actively involved in their communities who, through generosity, dedication, volunteerism and hard work, make their hometowns, communities, regions, provinces or territories a better place to live.
The front of the medal features the Senate’s badge and the reverse side depicts the Senate Chamber. A space is provided to inscribe the name of the recipient.”
Abouna, in the name of the entire parish we congratulate you and tell you that your honour is our honour. May the Lord God grant you many years of health and holiness!
